WHO WE ARE
Founded in 2019 the The Forest Explorers started as a weekly hiking group and are now a homeschooling cooperative. We meet twice a week in all weather. Tuesdays are at a set location where the kids will have the opportunity to explore, learn, build, and create. Thursdays are our hiking or field trip days.

OUR MISSION
Our mission is to build a community that reflects and helps shape the world we want for our children. We strive to instill in our children a deep sense of self-love, social & environmental responsibility, creative thinking and to hold onto the wonder of childhood. This is especially important as we navigate the tween and teen years ahead.
We believe in mixed-age learning to create a sense of community amongst our kids. They are encouraged to be kind to one another, to work together as a team and given many opportunities to show leadership and responsibility.

SCHEDULE
Our group meets twice a week from September-June and stays connected over the summer, meeting for hikes, beach days, backpacking or planning for the year ahead.
Tuesdays- We meet at our set location in Snohomish. We follow a daily rhythm that includes recess, three rotating stations which include survival skills, character development and nature studies, free play and ending together with songs & a group discussion.
Thursdays- This is our hiking or field trip day. Locations vary but the typical meet is within an hour of Snohomish.

BOARD + COMMITTEES
The group is board operated and member driven. The board oversees the values and principles for the group. They manage the property, the business side of the group and they oversee the committees.
There are three committees:
-
WILD: teaches survival skills & maintains the property.
-
NATURE: runs our nature lessons, yearbook & helps to plan parties.
-
LIFE: teaches nature journaling, cooking lessons and team building exercises.
